It's going to be a busy few weeks! The work you complete between now and half term will cover 3 key Units on your course, so has a real bearing on your potential result, make sure you produce your best.
First up is UNIT 1 - Visual Recording and Communication.
This week we will be completing digital boards of your work in this Unit - these need to demonstrate your ability to draw and record from direct observation and in other forms. They should also evidence your research and the development of your ideas. Your final board needs to show your outcome.
There will be 8 monitored hours of lesson time to complete this task, in these hours you will have access to a full range of materials and the internet, but we cannot teach or direct your studies.
Having completed your practical work you will then sit the 3 hour Unit 1 Examination on Wednesday 1st May at 9am. You can refer to your digital sheets in this session, and will be working at computers, but internet access willl be disabled. You will need to produce an 800 word evaluation of your project under exam conditions.
ALL UNIT 1 WORK WILL BE SUBMITTED ON MAY 1ST WHEN YOU COMPLETE YOUR EXAM.
After your Unit 1 Exam we will focus on UNIT 6 - Managing a Client Brief.
Between Thursday 2nd May and Tuesday 7th May we will schedule 10 hours of monitored lesson time for you to make preparation for the 15 hour Unit 6 Exam. This preparation should cover market and client research and gathering visual material and information to inspire your response to the brief.
All sessions from May 8th - May 14th will be dedicated to your Unit 6 Exam and you will be given a timetable for these hours. The 15 hour exam is under controlled conditions, you will have access to a full range of materials including computers, but internet access will be disabled. Completing practical work and a set of presentation slides are key aspects of this examination.
ALL UNIT 6 WORK WILL BE SUBMITTED ON MAY 14TH WHEN YOU COMPLETE YOUR EXAM.
Finally we will tackle UNIT 2 Critical and Contextual Studies in Art and Design.
You should already have been carrying out some independent research to familiarise yourself with work by one of the practitioners identified in the Part A paper that you received via email. We will schedule 3 monitored hours for you to complete your final notes for taking into your Unit 2 Exam - these notes follow a strict format that is outlined in your Part A paper. Your notes will be submitted with your exam paper to the board, so they need to follow the rules!
The day after completion of your Unit 6 Exam you will sit your Unit 2 Exam - 9.00am on Wednesday May 15th for 3 and a half hours.
In the exam you will need to produce analytical writing on the material you have researched from Part A, there will also be unseen material in the Part B paper that you will need to read through and provide a written response to.
NOTES AND WORK PRODUCED IN THE UNIT 2 EXAMINATION WILL BE SUBMITTED AT THE END OF THE EXAM ON MAY 15TH.
